5 Reasons why you should Evaluate Application Streaming

In today’s cost conscious IT environment, what’s needed is an end-to-end application delivery strategy that makes it easier to deliver applications to any user with the best performance, security and lowest cost.
Here are some reasons why application streaming is a high performing solution when compared to traditional software distribution environments:
- Reduced cost of ownership - The major cost associated with deploying applications comes from the inevitable compatibility issues and conflicts with existing applications installed, providing upgrades and fixes in addition to ensuring regression testing has been thoroughly carried out. Application streaming isolates software as opposed to installing it direct to the operating system environment and therefore prevents conflicts with other software tools. This service to the LAN / WAN install base and the wider remote user community ensures time is saved during the software distribution process.
- Increased productivity - Application Streaming provides users with an on-demand application distribution process. Instead of chasing IT to install new software to support new business processes they simply stream the application without IT intervention. Application Streaming enables standard applications to be executed on any PC without the need to install the application first. In addition, once users have finished with the application, it can be deactivated leaving the host PC as if the application had never been there, thereby freeing up licenses for other users. Should the user wish to re-activate the license, the cache ensures a prompt installation over and above a traditional CD / Network install.
- Reduced IT support - Centrally administered software distribution solutions “push” an application to the client, automating the installation process through remote administration tools. With application streaming, the application is “pulled” and executed locally in an isolated environment, and so out performs traditional terminal services solutions, in addition avoids any conflicts between existing applications and / or the operating system. Application streaming reduces the IT support demand for software deployment and technical assistance during installation and operation.
- Better application security - Only a small part of applications functionality is used the majority of the time. Real-time Application Delivery (RAD) technology ensures only the parts necessary to execute an application are streamed to the host PC. When combined with an Application Isolation Environment (AIE), then no software is actually installed on the PC, making software piracy a thing of the past.
- Improved software license control - License management with application streaming can save organizations unnecessary license costs by allowing user / group access to appropriate software applications to be set. This prevents users from installing unauthorized software and thereby consuming vital licenses from central IT.
